New Wave Outpost Forum

The New Wave era was interesting, because it was centred around two rock revolutions. It was born out of the punk revolution and it invariably gave birth to the video rock revolution.

During 1981 to 1983, there were a variety of video clips being made and it seemed quite obviously which band's had the high advance and which band's went for the low budget.

20 years later it is plain to see that there are some New Wave videos that could still stand the test of time, whilst others are so dated they can only truly represent it's era.

Disregarding the fashion, here are some late 70s/early 80s New Wave clips that could pass for late 80s, 90s or even 00s video clips.

So what other videos would you put in the dated and least dated lists?

.. Interesting.... I never personally thought of "Juice Newton" & "Ricky Lee Jones" as having anything to do with the Punk or new wave movements at the time... But that's why I started a thread elsewhere on this message board labled "Borderline" New wave

In general, it seems those new romantic videos haven't stood up well. You know the ones, shot in high-key exposure with guys like Haircut 100 or Spandau Ballet hanging around, singing and posing...VERY 80s!
