The audio mastering is identical to the previous release but the 2024 Sparkle in the Rain box is offered in more compact packaging. There will also be an opaque blue vinyl edition released at the same time as the CD box. So, it is being made available again, newly presented, but without the DVD.

The Paul Sinclair (SDE) interview with Jim Kerr back in 2014 was used for Simon Cornwell’s sleeve notes the booklet. These notes are repeated in the new box.

When A-ha reissued Hunting High And Low as a four CD set without the DVD back in 2019 from the box set it cost £13.99. So how the hell can they justify asking £75 for this ? You would probably be cheaper tracking down the original box set even though it's out of print.

I was going to say that I'll buy it if the price is right, missing out the first time around, but the price is definitely not right! Oh well, I'm not so interested in the live tracks and I've got the first four Themes sets, so I won't be missing it (other than having something cool to add to my collection).

Does anyone have this DVD ripped in full. Looking for the promo/live vids on it. The bit torrent one just has the high resolution audio. Be much appreciated.

Thank you for the post. Unfortunately that bit torrent on RU does not include the full DVD and is missing the videos.

I can send you these videos. The sound is LPCM, but the AR is 16:9 NTSC (4:3 with black bars)

If you are planning to remaster, the video quality is similar to the 'Seen The Lights (A Visual History)' DVDs, but with AC3 audio. (This DVD set is also available in native PAL)
Of course the Oxford Road Show and TOTP clips are only available on this 'Sparkle In The Rain' DVD

Here are the properties of the videos from the 'Sparkle In The Rain' DVD
Video: MPEG2 Video 720x480 (16:9) 29.97fps [V: mpeg2 main, yuv420p, 720x480]
Audio: LPCM 48000Hz stereo 1536kbps [A: pcm_dvd, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 1536 kb/s]

Here are the properties of the videos from the 'Seen The Lights (A Visual History)' DVDs
Video: MPEG2 Video 720x480 (4:3) 29.97fps [V: mpeg2 main, yuv420p, 720x480]
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz stereo 448kbps [A: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 448 kb/s]
All the best,

Thanks Eighties,
That is correct, I only wanted the material not on the PAL "Seen the Lights" DVD collection. The Oxford Road show (2) clips and the TOTP (1) clip. Also throw in the Waterfront promo from this DVD, I may use that PCM audio for remaster on the PAL version.
Thanks. Appreciate it, when you get a chance.
