Echo and the Bunnymen re-issues

Echo and the Bunnymen re-issues

Has anyone heard these? I already have "Heaven Up Here", "Ocean Rain", "Porcupine" and the self-titled album. Is it worth it to get them again?

I was just listening to "Ocean Rain" and though the sound itself is good, you can hardly hear the drums at times!

I have all the re-issues but none of the originals (not even on vinyl) so I couldn't tell you. I can up a few tracks you want to compare with though. Just let me know which ones.

On the self-titled album, Bring on the Dancing Horses Extended has a glitch at 4:53. Tried two copies. I have a good version of it on a compilation, but this kind of quality control really pisses me off. And no, it's not my CD player as I used EAC to rip the track and look at the waveform.

Thanks for the heads-up on the extended "Bring On..." glitch. I have that on vinyl at home (or at least on tape).

If you could send me "The Killing Moon", "The Cutter" and "Silver", I'd be much obliged. Either yousendit or direct e-mail works. I'll post my results in case anyone is interested.

Thanks!

Speaking as someone who bought all the original vinyl releases back in the day, then the cd's and finally the remasters, I say "GET THEM!"
The sound is greatly improved over the older discs, the packaging is top notch (each booklet contains a mini-biography of what EatB were going through at that particular stage of their career, plus lots of photos), and the bonus tracks are as always, a welcome addition.

I have (almost)all the originals but only one remastered CD, the s/t called 25th anniversary expanded edition with a slip case. I checked Dancing Horses extended, there is no glitch, so I guess it's a different version.[;)]

Here it is, including Dancing Horses Dud version so you can all share in my misery [:D].

The pressing of the self-titled/glitched CD I have is German (It was the release that was distributed in Canada). On the hub of the CD after the catalogue number, it says 10/03 V01, which I assume is when the disc was pressed. The glitch sounds like it might just be an extra millisecond of crap and can probably be edited out but it still pisses me off.

This is my version, so....glitch or no glitch?

Yours doesn't have the glitch. So I guess avoid the DE pressing but the UK one is okay.

I've just looked at the DE one's waveform and it has a gap (0.035s dead silence) in the song. Easy to correct but it's amazing how something so small can cause such a problem [:)].

The results of my comparison? Well, no one asked but I'm gonna say it anyway:[:D] based on what I've heard, the remasters ARE way better!

I.M. He is right on the mark (forgive me for doubting you!) I listened to "The Killing Moon", "The Cutter" and "Silver", and with the exception of "Silver" the difference was night and day. Clearer sound, better mix; the remasters beat my copies hands down.

Thanks Obs, for getting me the new remastered tracks.

Thanks Obs, for getting me the new remastered tracks.

You won't be thanking me after you realized how much money you've spent buying them all [:)].
