"Sexomatic" Hell yeah! Thanks for the post, I was wondering when installment 3 was going to be available. It seem to be a lot less "new wave", I am still going to purchase it.

Finally was able to purchase this. Must admit I was a little disappointed. I felt the need to buy it from a collectors standpoint.

I purchased it simply for all the odds ands ends on it. The first 2 volumes (each volume is 3CD's) are much more geared to more synth/new wave stuff.

It was the real volume 3......you just didn't care for it. It was not new wave but that doesn't translate to being a bad thing, unless you just hated everything on it and only like new wave. There were some good odds and ends songs I wanted on it, and found it worth buying personally. And note the series title - it does not mention it is new wave, so they don't mislead with the title, they are just hitting various genres of 80s dance music. Very appropriately titled actually.

No...this is not the real volume 3. It would've been called 12"/80s/3. It's purposely called 12"/80s/Dance to distinguish it from the first two (and hopefully future) volumes.
I have nothing against the content of this set; its just a bit too mainstream/80's top 40.

It's their 3rd release packaged like the first two, so call it what you will. Let's see, half the tracks on the first two aren't necessarily new wave, so I suppose they messed that up too. And yes, many of them on the first two were all over radio play. Most of these releases aren't even close to new wave, more like just top 100 radio 80s hits.

And.....many of the tracks on the first two were easily dance hits as well.....so maybe the first two were not really new wave, but dance volumes 1 and 2.

Now that most of the popular songs are out of the way, maybe the next volume can have some rarities. For example:

Belouis Some - Animal Magic (12" version) [:)]

With all due respect, I disagree with you Grunch. This release is not called the 3rd volume for a reason. There is a vast difference between the content of the first two volumes, and the "Dance" collection. I grew up near NYC listening to the alternative radio station WLIR, and with the exception of Dead or Alive and Art of Noise, none of the songs from the "Dance" volume would ever air on that station. Most of the songs on the first two volumes were regularly heard. Let's face it, the "Dance" volume is basically 80's disco.
You even mentioned further up on the string that the 1st two volumes are geared more for synthpop/alternative.
As I posted before, I have nothing against this latest release. Though if another compilation is released with content similiar to the first two volumes, it will probably be called 12"/80s/3.
