it's a fun record(well the a-side anyway...), sounds like prog-punk in some parts!
i was explaining last night to my (younger) other half, how it was used in the jeans advert, and was i guess lee cooper trying to cash-in on punks wearing drainpipe jeans... when i was 13 it was a fashion statement that could have gotten you beaten-up by long-haired gentlemen who wore flares - and that a lot of people know the song from then, even if they don't know who it's by...

That Rubber City Rebels "Pierce My Brain" is a new-ish record, recorded and released within the last 2 or 3 years. Thier first LP was on MCA (I believe, whatever, it was a major label) and I still see it for under $10. Time was when it was everywhere for $3.00

"Paper Dolls" was a cover of The Nerves, Peter Case and Paul Collin's mid 70's band. The RCR also covered a Sex Pistols song on the album.

I was able to score a sealed copy of the RCR/Bizzarros split 12" for $10 last year, along with a bunch of other Clone Records stuff.

I played "I Don't Wanna Be A Punk No More" on my radio show a few weeks ago. Kinda summed up my feeling that day.

I'm not old school, I'm just old!

imagine that conversation...

Former DJ comes home after garage sale is over.."Ma, you seen my Cookie Puss twelve inch?"

---"Oh no, ma, you DIDN'T, did you????"...

Got a copy of Linton Kwesi Johnson's "Bass Culture". Maybe not as good to me as "Forces of Victory" but he's one of the dub artists who I consistently liked.
Not much else out there lately.

I was lucky to find a bin, with some interesting disks along with some bad greek music, today, for 1.50 euro.thats what i discovered-

Berlin-Love Life(unfortunately greek copy,but so nice album)

Laurie and the Sighs-same(no words to describe this incredible band-energy,madness and a style that crosses tough arena rock with punky power pop.Really a surprise, after a long time!)

Moon Martin-Mystery Ticket(classic singer-songwriter turns power pop)

B.E.F-Music of Quality and distinction

Doll by Doll-Gyspy Blood(the sophisticated''prog-new wave '' band of Jackie Leven.)

i've been looking for albums by berlin for ages, they seem to have dropped-off the retail shelves in the UK, not one shop new or second-hand has anything by them![:(!]

new singles, found recently:

"drowning in berlin" - the mobiles
"heart of glass" - blondie (f'kin great 7" pop record...!!!)

on the same foray, i found a video of "blue city" too[:I]

kola - - here in the US, my experience has been that Berlin albums are a dime-a-dozen in the used shops (not that rare). I would not expect to pay more than $3 u.s. for any of them (usually $1)

I got a $2 copy of Robert Johnson's "Close Personal Friend" lp yesterday. Maybe it's slightly stretching it to call it new wave, but it sure is good early 80's pop-rock. He resembles Moon Martin visually; it's the type of lp you'd find in the cut-out bins quite often. If you come across this I recommend giving it a listen!
