Vinyl ripping for dummies?

Okay, got the Technics table, the phono preamp, and a 10 channel mixer.

Question is: Any good freeware ripping programs to do vinyl to mp3? Currently I have CdEX and all I did with that is just use it's Record function to make 40mb wav files. It can conver to mp3.

My concern is the sound quality. I have no experience "remastering" said vinyl work to mp3 and want to do it right. I just go by ear and fiddle with levels here and there to my satisfaction, and record away.

I'd love to get some of these unheard of artists ripped to MP3 and sent on its way to Soulseek heaven for virtual immortality.
