Found the post-Generation X band Empire featuring Derwood Andrews and Mark Laff

"The Bloodied Sword" - a really weird arty poetry/soundscape lp by Criss Cross and Midge Ure of Ultravox from 1983

Don't have Empire, but have a record by Westworld that Derwood is on. Kind of light-weight synth-pop-dance style music. Not bad if you find it in the $1 bin.

Grabbed two Chris Spedding lps this week, "Hurt" and "Guitar Grafitti". They actually turned out to be better than I was expecting.

I have also Chris Spedding lp''hurt'' and its pretty nice.i respect him very much as a main forerunner of punk rock, great guitar man and important session player. Also check out his 45 single with Vibrators''Pogo dancing'',when he really take them out from their hippy period, and got them inside punk.
Some latest discoveries.
Von Lmo-weird unknown new york band in Devo and DNA style.Double album reissue, together with their album''future language'' from 1981.
Fast-fast 1976-1984.Quirky power pop band in Sparks-Blondie style.
Also a reissue.
Jam -in the city
Horizontal Brian-a bit strange cabaret- new wave band with brilliant songs and production.

While digging thru the stacks at Cheapo I found 2 copies of DATA - Elegant Machinery, 3 copies of The Trees lp, and 2 copies of Bruce Wolley and the Camera Club. If anyone is interested let me know and we can work something out. All albums were under $5.

This was great ... The Local Goodwill had a 50% off sale the other day, and the woman working the cash was new. Instead of giving me 50% off, she accidentally gave me like 80% off, because the 15 records that I was buying came to a total cost of $1.50 [:0]

Lots of 12" goodies I got:

Calling Your Name - Marilyn
Eaten Alive - Diana Ross
The Sun Always Shines on TV - A-ha
Wood Beez - Scritti Politti
Russians - Sting
Suspicious Minds - Fine Young Cannibals
Never Never - The Assembly

the rest were soundtracks and pop albums [:)]

Imperial Dogs-live 1974-75(proto-punk in Dolls-Stooges vein,incredible guitar playing)
Screaming lord Sutch-with heavy friends(one of the fathers of the so called''horror rock'',later in 80s guest showman in Damned concerts, reissue)
45 single R.Stevie Moore-chantily lace(1984 lo-fi power pop)
Maybe,i'm interested in DATA copy, ollie but first i must check out if i have it or not, really can't remember.Great finds Goutroy, wish also in Greece had these vinyl opportunities.almost everything of what you found is tottaly unknown to stores owners, here!

Tigers-savage music
Silencers-romanic
Nice new wave pop bands, both very cheap!
The obscurity of the day,was an lp of someone Monde Harris2.Incredibly kitch sleeve, but inside a funny good time rock n' roll, with the addition of some spacey, quirky synths and funky-exotic percussion a la Bow wow wow!In my ears its like an early wave-rock band.Really very strange and worth a listen.

Cheapo Uptown? Last weekend I went thru every single LP in the store and found about 4 albums to buy. Your purchases sound like records I remember seeing in there.

Firefall, if you're like me half the time you're too busy collecting to hear the records all the way through; however play the last song on Shoes 'Boomerang' - "Hate to Run". One of my favorites by these guys.

My latest thing to do is go through the early Trouser Press Record Guide, jot down interesting titles, then put my local shops to the test. Some stuff I've gotten lately (quite a bit actually)---

Duffo - self titled (kind of a Klaus Nomi-type individual, decent songs)

Furniture - the wrong people

Clive Langer - 'Splash' and 'I want the whole world'. This guy produced early Madness and Bette Bright (thanks again wolverine); these have similar sound

Monsoon - 3rd Eye

Ken Lockie - the Impossible

Pink Military - Do Animals believe in God

Cucumbers - self titled ep

Paul Haig - the wrap of pure fun

The Look - Look again

The Movies - India

New Toys - Say It (an '82 Buffalo NY local new wave act - has the look down pat)

Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (want to figure out what all the fuss is about with this one)
