grabbed a couple interesting ones yesterday...

Doll by Doll - Remember (ZigZag magazine used to rave about this one; it's got the late 70's postpunk sound, but the songs are longer than I'd expect)

Monarchie und Alltag - Fehlfarben (this is a german release, 1980. All sleeve info in german. Pretty good punk/new wave. I've never heard of them before. Anyone else familiar with these guys?)

Also - Simon Townshend's "Sweet Music" (Pete's brother) and Adrien Belew's "twang bar king"

Doll by Doll were good, but try also the personal albums of Jackie Leven,bpdp3.Not new wave, but dreamy folk rock with some indie influences and still records today. Some finds-

Deserters-Siberian nightlife(second lp of these Canadians rockers, more synth based than their first one)

Doug and the Slugs-Wrap it

London Underground-at home with London Underground(interesting band, but not what i thought i'd listen.Dub-funky new wave with some piano, longy songs, similar to early Shriekback)

Alibi-friends(commercial rock meets new wave from 1981)

Bluebells-''Sisters''(great Scottish pop)

Pete Townsend-empty glass(his punky effort with this brilliant album)

Bye.

The last thing I bought on vinyl was "Security" by the Beat Club off of Ebay earlier in the summer.

Latest vinyl discoveries-
Suburbs-In combo(excellent debut of this Minneapolis band)
Grand Tour-On such a winter's day(obscure italian band in Butterfly records from 1977,know nothing more)
The Tapes-Party(nice funk-new wave band in Passport Records, their second effort)
Tony Basil-Word of mouth
The Icons-Art in the dark(alternative rock band from 1985)
Scritti Politti-Songs to remember(fantastic first album)
Twitch-Twitch and shout(Bomb Records product, fast rockabilly power pop with punk attitude)
Who-Who by the numbers and a very good compilation of early synth-new wave stuff''Through the back door'' with bands like Dalek I,Tearjeckers,Donkeys etc.

All these inside the shocking news from New Orleans. Our souls and hearts ,here in greece, are there.

What did you have to shell out for the Suburbs record? "In Combo" and "Credit In Heaven" used to be $20-$25 records here in Minneapolis. Since the cds were reissued the vinyl can be had for between $5-$10.

I found it Ollie for only 7 euro in a pretty good condition. This, because of the total obscurity about Suburbs in record dealers. But its really fantastic album.

Good score then! Those are 2 of my favorite records. I still see the members of the band every once in awhile. Hugo, the drummer, was doing some construction work on one of the studios where I work, and we had a nice little chat about some of the recent reunion shows they've been playing.
----------------
Scored a few vinyl pieces yesterday:

Blondie - Eat To The Beat Japanese pressing with inserts and obi strip for $7.

Brian Briggs - 0¢ Brain Damage for $5.30

Swimming Pool Q's - The Deep End for $4.20

Duran Duran - Careless memories 12" for $2.10

and a few new hardcore thrash 7" as well.

Best regards.

<img src="http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/vincentcrane/Graphics/dummy2.jpg">

as used in 1979 lee cooper jeans advert in the UK, and got into the top 40... turns out John Du Cann is the same John Du Cann who played guitar in atomic rooster(who were only ever any good when vince crane was with them, but i digress...) - not a bad pastiche of punk rock, with a bit of new wave thrown in... but the b-side, produced with the help of francis rossi, is crap.

Good information.I used to search for any John Du Cann disks lately, without success.I don't know,if he has whole albums, but for sure has some rare singles. Also there is a compilation out in the market. As for Atomic Rooster, don't like them at all.

Firefall -

I've only seen the Rubber City Rebels lp once, not a reissue, and I grabbed it (if memory serves me right probably in the $8 - $10 dollar range). "Paper Dolls" one of my favorites on that lp. Doug Fieger of the Knack produced it.
