NICK LOWE | GRAHAM PARKER
Nick Lowe held considerable influence over the development of punk rock. With Brinsley Schwarz, Lowe began a back-to-basics movement that flowered into punk rock in the late '70s. As the house producer for Stiff, he recorded many seminal records by the likes of The Damned, Elvis Costello, and The Pretenders. Despite his massive influence on the genre, Lowe never really was a punk rocker. His Technicolor sonic scope covers all kinds of sounds, from rock to country to soul to pop. Two great YouTube clips from a recent appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show here and here. Sample Nick Lowe on iTunes
For nearly 30 years, Graham Parker has been slinging his signature sound, earning a spot in the pantheon of influential rock 'n' roll figures. Since his early days with The Rumour, Parker has coupled punk's energy with his deeply rooted love of American R&B, country, and soul music. Live YouTube clip here. Sample Graham Parker on iTunes
