B-52s, Byrne and Crenshaw reviews

Marshall Crenshaw, The B-52s and David Byrne all rolled through Seattle in the past few weeks, and they were all on my must see list of acts I had missed in the 80s. These were all great shows, and I'd recommend these tours to any of you guys that the opportunity!

Marshall Crenshaw's voice is a clear and melodic as ever, and the new songs are really good in the hook department.

The B-52s played a sold out show in Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo as part of the Zoo Tunes concert series. The energy level was high throughout the entire show, the girls vocals were fantastic, and Fred was nutty as ever. Party out of bounds, to be sure.

David Byrne played a mix of Byrne/Eno solo and Talking Heads material. It was all good, but he really set the place on fire with the old songs. The big hits were all there, including Crosseyed and Painless, Take Me To The River, Life During Wartime, Burning Down The House and a bunch of others. Plus one of my favorite underrated Heads songs "Born Under Punches". In addition to his band, he invited the "Extra Action Marching Band" from San Francisco to joint the party on stage for about 3 songs...they were a blast and kept the entire crowd dancing. To top it off, they played again in the lobby as people left the theater, turning that into a mini-concert in itself. It will never be the same as the Talking Heads, but David Byrne knows how to put on a show!

I saw the B-52s several years ago and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. They are so much fun and still sound great. I would go see them again in a heartbeat, anytime! Hello to everyone here, also. I'm a new member:)

I saw a solo performance by Marshall in early 2009, and he was a pleasure to listen to.

Welcome garammasala1968. Yep; I would definitely catch the B-52s again as well. I have to admit I was surprised at how good they still sounded!
