Here's the "Henry" video. Union Hall makes TT the Bears or Maxwell's look bright in comparison - ridiculously dark. Also stupidly loud - just maxed the mic all to hell, so apologies for the sound quality. However Derek, it'll hopefully make you feel like you were right there:

Ah, so lead guitarist Petter got a new guitar. At the Mercury Lounge show, he had to retune his guitar between every song, causing Philip at one point to groan, "We're looking for a new guitar for him."

Nice viddy! Yeah your mic was totally pegged but they sound really good live, very tight like they have played together all their lives. You weren't kidding about feeling like I was right there at the show, very nice footage except I couldn't see the hot keyboardist Looking forward to the goodies your sending along.

That's kinda big time for a band like this.

"Its songs find a sweet spot between Joy Division and New Order, like a slightly more chirpy Modern English." No denying their influences...or derivations as detractors might rightly say. I don't think anyone at the gig cared though. Again, great fun stuff, period, end.

I dunno, Henrik seemed to be getting plenty of attention and commentary from the ladies. Schwenko and I commented a bit as well...then we talked about football..."Helluva game, helluva game."

Well since I was in the city anyway toninght...


Bizarre convergence (conflagration?) of folks at the Mercury Lounge gig. Surprised to see my buddy Josh there - a big BSP and apparently big Swedish indie pop fan as well. Doubly surprised to be approached by RetroNRG and the very fetching SallyLightfoot. Who'da thunk that?! Good company though.

Best sound out of all three gigs, but that could have been from standing back in the middle of the room taking it all in rather than having the monitors themselves blaring in my earholes. It almost felt like New Order opened for the Onettes - the DJ played a string of tracks on the PA to warm up the audience:

Sally & I had set to meet up despite some personal challenges presented to me on the home front yesterday.

Got there with enough time to be treated to some brewskies and nice conversation with Sally and 4 members of the band.

Was surprised at the small turnout.. 40-50 perhaps? (eh.. Sunday
night crowd I guess..)

Even more surprising was the band's laid back attitude about touring in general (paying their way forward out of pocket without the help of a manager)

Anyhow, wasn't sure if Blir was gonna show up for a 3rd gig but Lo and Behold.. there he was.

What a treat to break out of the 'family guy' routine and catch a REALLY GOOD live gig. (Couldn't help catching a distinct Curesque vibe from their performance though- not a bad thing)

All in all, it was a much needed diversion and much thanks to Sally and Blir for the occasion to meet up last night![8D]

Yeah, that was a lot of fun! The band sounded great, considering they had no pre-gig soundcheck. Thanks guys, we'll have to do that again sometime.

Either of you guys notice that Philip has a tattoo on his wrist that says 1981? I'm betting that's [i]the year he was born[/i], which would make him all of 28 years old. If my guess is accurate, Philip is channeling the sound of bands which existed when he was only a toddler in a small town in Sweden. Think about that one...
