I fucking hope some of you New Yawkahs go to the Brooklyn show. These guys are still VITAL. Please fucking go see them. Academy just might be the best live song ever. Latter day tracks like Dirt and 2wice are great and fit right in with their old tracks. Incredible sound from essentially a trio plus Swope on the tape thingie (not there I don't think but his replacement passed out earplugs before the gig...uh-oh).

You don't realize just how much of their guitar heft comes from Roger Miller's constantly swirling hands on both the fingerboard and body. It's almost a mashup of prog-like lead guitar mixed with punk-like drums and bass. These guys are definitely part of my holy trio of angular choppy post-punk, along with Gang of Four and Wire.

I lurk occasionally. I missed this show because I wasn't around, but I've seen them at their other Northampton shows. Always worth seeing, just don't forget your earplugs.

Never thought I'd see the day when BCN would go off the air. The first commercial station in Boston to play punk and a great supporter of local music in the late 70's to early 80's.
