Thinking about picking up tickets for Colin Hay's Portland gig in August.

Was wondering if anyone had seen him and can tell me what it was like.

I'm a massive Men at Work fan, so would be hoping he played a few of their numbers, so any info on the set list appreciated. Cheers.

Theres a band who's entire back catalog MUST get remastered and re-released w/bonus tracks/mixes?

I have yet to hear a bad ass remix/extended of any of their big hits, I think any of them would be cool to hear.

I saw Colin a couple of months ago (solo). He was very good-- quite a chatty entertainer. He probably spent as much time telling stories and jokes as he did playing. His wife joined him on the stage-- she's a vocalist. Her accompaniment was fine, but her interpretive dancing was sometimes distracting. He played quite a few Men at Work number, certainly the ones you'd expect:

Who Can it Be Now?
Overkill
Still Life
Down By the Sea

I'm only speaking about his solo performance. I know he's also touring with a band for some dates, so that could be a completely different experience. In short, if Colin is playing nearby, and the tickets are reasonably priced, I'd definitely see him. One thing that surprised me is his voice; after all these years his voice is still as good as ever-- it can illuminate the room.

I would totally go see him if he were ever to come here. I was a HUGE Men At Work fan back then--they were one of my first concerts, and I remember it fondly. (Seattle 1983, Moore Theater.) Colin's quirkiness always made him that much more appealing. He was hilarious when he sang on [i]Scrubs[/i] a few seasons back.

I've seen him three times and he's fantastic, one of my favorites. He is a great storyteller, as well. If it's acoustic, it's even better. Check out his album "Going Somewhere"...it's full of great tunes. "Transcendental Highway" and his last one were also good.
