Inspired by the NY Record Stores thread...

I may be in Manhattan for a few days at some point during mid-Sept. Anyone know of any shows worth catching around that time?

Sept 16 could be a jackpot if this kinda stuff is up your alley. Ida Maria and Ladyhawke at Irving and Little Boots at Bowery. Tough choice but I'll be at one of em.

Jeez, and Asobi Seksu at Joe's Pub.

The Horrors the next night at the Bowery and The Sounds at Roseland.

That Friday night, Trail of the Dead at Webster, Bob Mould at Highline, Of Montreal at Terminal 5.

That Saturday, The Decemberists at Terminal 5. Not a bad little run. The Horrors...hmmm...

Yo Don! Way to represent the West last night at Little Boots. Complete pleasure to meet up with you and Schwenko.

As for Little Boots, I'll just say there's a fine line between Goldfrapp and Olivia Newton John. Boots' two best songs were great - Stuck On Repeat and New In Town, both very Goldfrapp and Moroder. When she got into more of the pop diva mode, which was too often imho, not so much. Good diversion though, and always fun people-watching the young, attractive NYC hipsters.

Great meeting up with you and Schwenko! It was a fun evening. Let's hit some shows next time you're in my area.

Great to meet DonGately and see Senor Blir again (although I'm sure DG wasn't quite as impressed meeting me considering that he has already seen Miss Universe and Ron Jeremy and scads of gorgeous models while he has been in NYC)

I enjoyed the show; a few other highlights included the bubbling synthpop cover of Freddie Mercury/Queen's moribund "Love Kills" as well as "Earthquake", both of which I felt had more of a Debbie Harry/Sarah Cracknell-ish vocal style.

She is a hot little thing.

In the concert, she was using it more as a single track sequencer. Each set of buttons she tracked horizontally would also be shifted on the next pass to a higher or lower set of notes vertically. Pretty cool.

She was pretty smokin hot. She has some good pipes on her too.

Schwenko, I made it to Rebel Rebel before I left town today. Picked up the new solo disc from the guitarist for Scissor Sisters.
