Not that it affects me at all--kids out of high school--but teacher strikes always bugged the crap out of me because no matter what the issue--right or wrong--it's always taken out on the kids and THEY have to make up the time somewhere. Then you read contracts are over in August and need to be renegotiated and the ball starts rolling at the beginning of the school season.
Why not have contracts end June 30? That way--talks start at the BEGINNING of summer and dont ruin the kids year--plus it would put a little more oomph in teachers attemting to come to a deal. After all--they dont want to ruin THEIR summer.
