Harry Reid.......dumbass

In a private conversation reported in a new book, Reid described Obama as a "light-skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." This from the soon to be released book "Game Change", which covers the Obama presidential campaign. Funny when anyone challenges anything Obama does they get labeled a racist, but the Dems are lining up to forgive one of their own. Harry is already in trouble at home to keep his seat next election and he just keeps digging the hole deeper.

Harry Reid is already poorly regarded by liberals-- he's a pro-life mormon who has f***ed things up for the past decade as minority/majority leader. His home state (NV) polling numbers are very poor, and I hope he decides to retire like Dodd rather than run again. The progressive netroots will not miss Reid for a minute (and they didn't want Pelosi to be rewarded with speaker of the house, for that matter, either).

The word "negro" is still unfortunately used by older generations (Reid is 70)-- and for that reason it will be used on the 2010 census. But Reid is a dumbass and should know better than to think in those terms, let alone write it in a book. But it was not hateful, like the kind often seen in the tea party demonstrations, or the thinly veiled racism spewed by the AM radio jocks. There are a lot of racist attitudes and opinions about people of every color/ethnicity/gender. Obviously it's not limited to any political party.

Hey that's two posts in a row we for the most part agree on, is there some kind of planetary alignment going on I don't know about.[:)]

It's agreeing on possible solutions that turns out to be the hard part. In Reid's case, we might disagree vehemently on suitable replacements. But for now, yes-- it's nice to recognize that there is often common ground to be shared.
