I knew Wayne for about 30 years. I met him in the fall of 1979, where we worked in a department store on Long Island, and we hit it off pretty quickly. We both loved music, and it wasn't long before we were in a band together with a couple of other friends of mine. We called the band Slow Children. It never really went anywhere--but it's safe to say that we all had a blast playing together. It was HUGE fun! We'd often hang out together until after the sun came up. We all remain good friends to this day.
I think you all seem to know Wayne pretty much the same way I did. Funny, wicked smart, generous, music lover. He was very strong, and could be a very intimidating physical presence, but I think the last thing that he'd ever want to do would have been to hurt someone.
He also had that punk thing too, and he'd just tell you what he thought, the way he thought it, and it really didn't matter how you took it.
He rocked hard. He talked the talk, but he also walked the walk. As far as being a rocker, he was indeed “the real deal.”
He is already missed very, very much.
The link below is to an mp3 of a song that was written by Wayne (words) and the other guitar player in Slow Children, my good friend Patrick (music). We recorded it in a basement in October of 1984. Wayne is doing the vocal and playing bass. I'm playing rhythm guitar, and our good friend Gina is playing the drums. I hope you can enjoy it for what it is; simply, 4 friends who loved music, and each other, and who were having a great time together.

Middleclass
I was born in the middle class
And I hope that I can make it last
I had a middle class Mother
A middle class Dad
Had middle class zits
Like all the middle class kids had
I was born in the middle class
In the middle class U.S.A.!
Live my life in the middle class
And I hope that I can make it last
Got a middle class wife
And a middle class car
Go to middle class churches
And middle class bars
I was born in the middle class
In the middle class U.S.A.!
Hope I die in the middle class
Of a heart attack or some thing like that
I'll have a middle class plot
And a middle class stone
Go to middle class hell
With my middle class bones
I was born in the middle class
In the middle class U.S.A.!
In the middle class U.S.A.!
In the middle class U.S.A.!
