The NHL has never been more popular in Canada than it is now, hence the new Winnipeg team selling out 13,000 season tickets in 10 minutes.

However, Gary has to realize that beyond select markets in the US, it just isn't going to fly. The NHL is never going to catch on in Atlanta, for example, it just isn't going to happen. Millions of Americans don't even know what hockey is. If you don't play it as a kid, you're not likely to watch it as an adult. Look how long it's taken for soccer to gain momentum in the US, and I'm sure people would still sooner watch football or basketball than soccer.

In terms of your implied "hooliganism" or "unprofessionalism" or whatever you're trying to say, I call bullshit. I've seen worse shit in football and even basketball. Hockey is a fast paced, exciting, but extremely physical game that is sure to draw out emotions over the course of a 7 game finale.

A badge I'll wear with honor. I can only agree that Canucks fans are as arrogant as Leafs or Yankees fans. Bold for a team that has never won the Cup, but hockey is a way of life out here, part of our culture.

I'm not expecting a sweep, I'm sure the Bruins will battle back and in the end it will be an exciting series. But I think the media has to get over the biting incident, if in fact it actually happened, and focus on the teams. With the Canucks, its been Luongo one night, the Sedinds another night, then Kesler, maybe Burrows and even a third or fourth line guy now and then. There has been no shortage of heroes in this playoff run.

The east coast media rarely sees the Canucks and I think they are surprised that the Canucks are more than just the Sedin sisters floating around out there. I think they expected the Bruins to come in and show these poofs how the game is played...and instead their physicality has been matched (maybe even outdone) blow by blow.

Bergeron, Burrows and LaPierre are all Quebecois, and as we all know, they bite.

I can agree with everything here except for "their physicality has been matched (maybe even outdone) blow by blow". It was almost comical last night how many times a Canuck would go for a kill shot on a Bruin and end up bouncing off worse off than the "victim" of the hit. What was even funnier was the crowd of 18,000 roaring every time it happened. I'll give them credit for not being intimidated and for trying to match the Bruins physicality but there's no way in Hell those shots aren't taking their toll on the Canucks or have really had any effect on the outcome of these games beyond maybe getting the crowd pumped up.

Actually most of the media around here feel the Canucks are the more talented team. We knew Thomas would have to stand on his head to steal one of the first two games. It didn't happen, although The Bruins could've won that game last night.


I thought the Bruins were done when they went down 2-0 to Montreal, so what do I know. Maybe home ice will make a difference.
