How did new wavers dress in the 80's?

i have been wondering what the typical dress and makeup for a new waver--male and female would be...i would love to incorporate soem sense of new wave into my style, since new wave is ebcoming one of my favorite genres of music.

Did a lot of people really do the punk or flock of seagulls things? It's my recollection that even in LA, pretty dressed pretty normal (for then). OP and Vans were more predominant than pink parachute pants. Most guys still wore their hair pretty long, wh

I recently looked at pictures from my five year class reunion that was held 1988 and it looked like a photo shoot for a 1980 MTV's promo. But you are probably right "most" people dressed fairly normal.
