Tempest! Crazy advanced stuff for 1981? 1982?

Kick Man, because it was the only game I truly excelled at. If you don't remember, Kick Man was a clown on a unicycle who had to catch or pop falling balloons with his head without them touching the ground. You could kick them back up if they were about to reach the bottom. There were also Pacmans who would come down and eat the balloons you collected on your head and bombs to avoid getting hit by. I RULED this game.

Best video game memory: The 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. Scattered throughout the park were giant circus tents filled with every video game imaginable. Row after row after row of them. Each tent had about 25 Zaxxons, 25 Froggers and 30 or more Pacmans lined up. I must have spent a years worth of allowlance in that place. This was, as far as I'm concerned, the peak year for video games in the U.S. because it was before most people had home gaming systems. The games were also better because they were simpler and weren't all fighting/karate like they are now.

Pooyan. I remember being on holiday in Greece in about 1983 and we were getting Mcdonalds, only it wasn't. It was this sneeky little Greasy (excuse the pun) Greek take away that had forged the big M on the outside of their little kiosk. Anywho all was redeemed as they had the ubiquitous cabinet in the corner with a Pooyan game in it.

Pooyan was the game where the little Pigs had a pig in a basket who could be raised or lowered on a pulley system. The enemy were wolves who blew bubbles and descended from a tree. You, the pig, had to shoot them or their bubbles. I only played this game on a proper cabinet the one time, but have reserved a spot,for it, at the table of my most sacred memories ever since.

I know it is an 80s cliche, but I still like Pac-Man and Ms. Pac Man, and Frogger. I also like Solitaire and a bowling game.

I'm sure many of you are aware of the <a href="http://www.mame.net" target="new">M.A.M.E. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) project</a> that's been going on for some time now. It allows you to play exact replicas of the coin-op games on your computer, as well as the classic console games. The whole game ROM trading thing is one of those shady areas like MP3 trading, but I imagine you can still find many of them.

As far as video games go, I never really liked the arcade video games (too little bang for the buck). I was strictly a pinball guy back in the day... some would even say <I>Pinball Wizard[/i]. I could play pinball for hours on a single quarter and leave the machine with free credits on it when I got tired of playing. I now have my own arcade pinball machine in my rec room, so I don't even need that first quarter. [:p]

Some of you may know, I'm an avid PC gamer. A few of my all time favs are Tomb Raider, Age Of Empires, and above all Unreal Tournament. [8D]

You guy's remember the Galaga stop shooting trick ?
What about that finger destroying "track n field" game.

LOL, what the hell was that track and field game? Our trick was a ruler that we'd leverage between our fingers so the tension would allow us tap as rapidly as possible. My buddy and roomate at the time, Brady Anderson, was the all-time champ around our parts. Makes sense since he went on to be the Orioles center fielder for about 10 years!
