Use both hands and always know what you're shooting at.

My new representative in the US Senate, Kirsten E. Gillibrand, sleeps with 2 rifles under her bed.
I guess that is because she might wake up in the middle of the night and want to go hunting.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

We have gun control here, and it works great! Ordinary citizens don't have guns, criminals do: which makes the criminal's transactions with the law abiding citizenry quick and efficient.

The outlook on firearms in Australia is vastly different to the Majority of the USA. It is extremely hard for us to comprehend 'the right to bare arms' down here.

Our Police forces have sidearms, and if you a criminal (in any country) you can generally always find a gun of some description.. however here it is generally getting tougher. We have amnesties now and then where guns can be handed in for destruction with no legal reprocussions. We have very few gun and ammo retailers and permits are controlled pretty well.

not sure if it is a lto of media hype, but watching thigns on tv about the US and guns, it seems to be pretty easy to get a gun and ammo pretty much anywhere with a minimum of fuss, so long as you have the money to buy what you want.

A very different world!

Its funny you brought this up again now. I got a call yesterday from the NRA asking for donations. I let the guy say what he needed. But then I told him, I live in N.Y., there are tons of guns, anyone can get one, and they are not legal.N.Y. will outlaw pens if someone gets hurt by one. It is ridiculous in a city like N.Y. that we can't own a gun but every hood has one. Grrrrrr.

I'm not opposed to gun ownership by citizen (which the constitution explicitly allows), but your chances of wounding/killing a family member or a neighbor in error goes up significantly, as does the likelihood that you'll take your own life with it. So while it's true that you may feel more secure and be better able to protect yourself and your family in the rare case that a gun can be effective, it comes with a lot of risk. Personally, I think anyone who owns a gun should be required to be trained/certified to use it properly and safely. The odds of that happening are pretty low, though.

I hear you, don't get me wrong, I am not on a soapbox screaming at all passers by that we need guns. I was just commenting on the strange city N.Y. is. I agree that a gun in my house is not a good idea. Most people would agree on that one. But N.Y. is an extreme where it is against the law but there are guns everywhere.
