Money talks. I wonder if Rush's dinner pal Bill Clinton sent a gift....maybe some prescription meds? [:D]

That is so special. I hope Rush and Newt continue their crusade against non-traditional marriage, since they seem to prove that traditional marriage is such a blessing (total between them: 7 wives).<blockquote>

The lgbt community is probably going to be outraged at flamboyantly gay Elton John, whoring out to Limbaugh for a million bucks. That says a lot about Reg Dwight. And I didn't think he could get any worse after repackaging "Candle in the Wind" for the death of that train-wreck princess di.

Come to think of it I think "Goodbye English Rose" was actually a worse idea.

I'm sure he'll donate the million bucks to a charity, just like Chrissie Hynde did to let Rush continue to use "My City Was Gone" as his theme song. As multimillionaires I'm sure Rush and Elton have more common ground with each other than their respective fan bases.

So if Ellen wanted to hire Elton that'd be ok but if Rush does it not only does he get no credit but EJ is branded as a sell out. All because it doesn't fit YOUR idea of what is right or suit your politics.

Hard to imagine such enlightened thinkers wanting to deny a gay person the right to earn income and exercise their pursuit of creative passion. So much for the Right wing having a lock on being prejudiced and judgmental.

It is about politics, just not anyone's here but rather Sir John's and whether or not he's a money-grabbing hypocrite.

There is some justice to the story: apparently Sir Elton is donating the money to new US-based charity for gay rights.

Djcraig-- I was just noting the contradiction of the arrangement. Elton John accepted money to celebrate the [i]fourth[/i] marriage of a man who actively promotes the notion that gays aren't equal/human enough to wed once.

I think Elton John can do whatever he wants, obviously, and so can Rush-- Rush is a fitting example of the "traditional marriage" he promotes-- and by that I mean the age-old tradition of attractive young bimbos marrying repugnant old rich guys. I would have thought Elton would have passed on this deal and kept his principles in tact, but with the charitable donation he's rising above the politics.

If Michael Moore was throwing an election fund-raiser for the california communist revolution party and asked you to DJ the party, would you do it? Even if you had to hand-out live puppies and kittens as party favors for the "Stomp Out Capitalism" dance?[:p]

I'm sure that was the agreed arrangement beforehand. Elton's rolling in money. I doubt he's desperate for yet another million. Rush's fans are up in arms (at least on YouTube) but Rush never struck me as a guy who had principles anyway, same with Elton actually (especially if you watch that "Tantrums and Tiaras" show).

That was before participating in the beatification of princess di, though, so that was probably a financial turnaround for him.

Yeah, Princess Di did the trick. As of last year, his fortune stands at $256 million. Most of it, I presume, is spent on really bad clothes.

It is the MONEY. There doesn't have to be anything else. This woman will be able to hit the mall every day and max out his credit cards, sit on her ass and watch TV and never have to work AND she'll probably be screwing the pool guy the whole time.

With Rush's money you'd think he could buy a hotter and younger wife though.
