Hall & Oates cancel appearance over Ariz. law

Postby coop41 » Mon Jun 14, 2010 2:57 pm

The rock duo Daryl Hall and John Oates announced Monday they will not be playing Phoenix next month following an Arizona Diamondbacks game.

Their manager Jonathan Wolfson told The Associated Press from Los Angeles that Hall and Oates will not play Phoenix July 2 because of their personal stance against Arizona's new immigration law.

The pair issued a statement through Wolfson saying they stand in solidarity with the music community in boycotting Arizona at this time.

They also emphasized the decision has nothing to do with the management of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

D-backs' president and chief executive Derrick Hall said they understand the duo's decision.

Oh no ... how will Phoenix ever recover from such a crushing blow?

I'm thinking that John was vociferous about this decision. Just a hunch...

These gestures won't carry much weight until the Corey Harts and Richard Marxs of the world also weigh in.

3rd rate venues? 3rd rate venues?? They were on the "American Idol" season finale!

Granted, it was full of artists who are relegated to playing at 3rd rate venues. But still!
