I saw that vid. Pretty incredible how much emotion and passion is transferred from that guy to the muppets. I liked it-- Under Pressure one of my favorite songs (and has an obvious liberal perspective).

Speaking of "obvious" ... you're just completely fucked in the head.

Web-Tourrettes or does that interpretation spoil the song for you?

My bet is that this heartfelt verse is your favorite:

♬ And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And loves dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves...♬
The only people conservatives care about other than themselves is fetuses, so it would be pretty difficult to reconcile this song with your outlook.

If you think I'm f***ed in the head for sharing the sentiments of the song or for enjoying the occasional muppet show, then it pleases me to have rattled your miserable cage today. [:D]

No, I just think you're fucked for not being able to make one single post without boring us with your retarded political views (see The Alarm thread). The song has NOTHING to do with politics, liberal or otherwise.

Oh yeah ... for about the millionth time, I'm not a "conservative". I LOVE abortion. Fetuses suck. And so do you. [:D]

"The song has NOTHING to do with politics, liberal or otherwise."

That's your opinion, thanks for sharin' it.

The video shows a homeless guy (who's probably not homeless, but whatev) performing "Under Pressure". Only a dope would assume that the song was chosen without regard for its message. And only a jackass with no self-awareness and compromised judgment would start a confrontation over an embarrassingly minor and substance-free point.

Maybe you also think The Alarm has no political subtext (meanwhile, bios for the band usually start out,"The Alarm combined punk influences with acoustic guitars and political and sociological messages..."), and that comments about the political subtext of a song or artist is verboten on this site. Thanks as usual for your colorful opinion and invective.

I still prefer Kermit's rendition of "Hurt".[;)]

Well, in fairness you could just as easily apply those lyrics to the life of Mother Theresa and they'd work. They're not too far off from "We Are The World" in that regard (although they're attached to a much better song than that bloated Mike Curb-style singalong). It's a universal theme that anyone can grab on to, although I think the construction of the song and the performances are what really makes it a classic. This song is the definition of dynamic.

I will say there's nothing more stirring than the moment when Freddie Mercury crashes through and sings "Why don't we give love that one more chance...". It's the sound of a million would-be arena rockers getting schooled on how you're supposed to do this stuff. [;)]

When I listen to Queen I feel the urge to pump my fist in the air and belt out the songs along with Freddie, not a good idea if you're a baritone and you're driving.

Commenting on the religious significance of a song or artist is dull and predictable. Next you'll say, "Those two dancing muppets are gay, after all Freddie Mercury was gay and the band's name is Queen." OHHHH SHIIIIIITTTT NOOOOOO!!!! OOOOOOHH NOOOOO YOU DIIIIIDDDNNNTT!!! Why o why do you always have to look at things through the lens of gender and sexuality?!?!?!? Don't you see that this is really just about POWER, i.e., class warfare and oppression???!!! "That homeless guy is disenfranchised in society, as so many are-- he's playing the role of puppetmaster to invert his circumstances and overcome his own powerlessness." AAAAAAAARRRGHHH!!! NONONONONONONO!!! It's about a white guy oppressing muppets of color! No it's about man's destruction of his environment, reducing nature as portrayed by frogs to the level of subservient playthings.... etc.

Except for the fact that you're interpretation of said song's "message" is completely off. For all you know, the song could have been chosen for no other reason than because the dude has two hands, two Kermit puppets, it's a duet and it's a better song than "If I Close My Eyes Forever". Idiot.

At least that time she ... he ... it ... by mentioning sexuality came a little bit closer to understanding the meaning of the song, albeit accidentally.
