My son has the classic Atari games on his Nintendo DS and tonight I was playing some of the oldies. It was a trip down memory lane. I had forgotten the game "Missile Command" where you try to protect your cities from being nuked.

My heart is racing and I'm sweating profusely but this is nothing new. I recall that this game always stressed me out beyond belief!!! I don't know if it's just the premise of the game or what but it always feels like more than just a game. Whew. Need a Crown Royal.

I got the same game for my kids. They never played it so I do. Of all the games I love missile command! and battle zone.

I believe you may be suffering from "missile envy". Can't tell you how many quarters I dropped in that machine only to ultimately have all my cities destroyed in a cataclysmic fireball.

It's hard trying to save the world.

I've tried to play Missile Command in its various reincarnations, but it's just not the same without the track ball that the original arcade game had.

How about a nice game of chess?

(sigh) One of the great lost experiences of the 80's....the local video game arcade. Dimly lit, music blaring over the loudspeakers, some bearded fat guy sitting on a stool in the back, making change for everyone, kids waiting on line to play Tempest...

Ditto. Console games didn't have the same appeal of the original games because of the controller. A friend of mine does have an Atari 7800, though, with trackball, and playing Millipede on it was pretty cool [8D].

Hey, does anyone remember the two-player football game, with the Xes and Os, with the big trackball?

And lastly, if you haven't heard of MAME, check it out. It's not entirely legal, but you can find a lot of illegal things via Google. Why settle for imitations when you can play the original game (sans original controllers, though)?

Galaga is still my fav from back in the day!

Ghosty your so right! The kids of today are missing out on that experience in the mall. 15 people crowd around as some cool kid is just killing it on Asteroids.

I don't know, Zaxxon is the only game I have for the Colecovision.

Though I'm pretty sure it has most basic Atari games. It's just that they're in COLOR!
