NHL Presidents' Trophy

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the Vancouver Canucks for winning the NHL Presidents' Trophy for the first time in the franchise's 40-year history with a 52-17-9 record!

It was great to see so many fans hang around after the game last night to show their appreciation instead of barreling out of the arena for their cars with 2 minutes left as usual.

Bring on the Stanley Cup!

(oh crap, is that the Blackhawks in the 8th playoff spot?)

The Presidents' trophy will go a long way to consoling the faithful after the Nucks bow out in the first round.

Oh well, even if they do lose in the first round, at least there's something positive to take away from the season. I've been to about a dozen games this season and it sure has been fun to watch. Almost as exciting as watching Bure in his prime.

How are the Leafs playoff chances looking? According to the National Post: Mathematically possible. Realistically improbable.

According to idiot Leaf fans: there's still a chance. Right.

I don't follow the Leafs. Unlike any other team in the NHL, financial success is not dependent on on-ice success. Simply put: they don't need to win, and they never will.

I like Boston or Philly in the playoffs.

Aw, how sweet. Do they also get juice boxes and orange slices after every game, and a pizza party at the end of the season?

Well, hope 1st overall works out better for the Canucks than it did for the Sens (or the Caps or the Sharks for that matter).

As to, "barreling out of the arena for their cars with 2 minutes left as usual". Amateurs! Ottawa fans can be outa there with 10 minutes left in a tie game.

True to the script again this year: suck most of the year, late season push, come ever so close to making the playoffs but fall a few points short, have the faithful say "Wait'll next year".

Same old, same old.

After the Bruins colossal choke last year it's hard to have any faith.

Get out the broom, Gramma, it looks like a sweep!

Damn, I have to coach little league on Tuesday night at game time. Maybe the kids won't mind if I just take them to the pub.

Filthy stinking bastard Blackhawks.

The Canucks have lost their last two games by 5 goals each. I'm sure there's no cause for alarm, right zill?

They looked real bad the last 2 games...good thing they've got the Presidents' trophy to ease the pain of an early exit; if of course, that happens. I'm not saying it will, but...

I'm liking Boston's ability to battle back as well.
