The Day After The Riots

Postby zill » Thu Jun 16, 2011 6:42 am

The boarded up windows of Hudson's Bay Department Store becomes a mini-version of the Berlin Wall, with thousands of respectable Vancouverites expressing their outrage at what happened and their love of our fine city. As disgraceful as last night was, it is quite moving to see people who love our city pitching in to clean up the mess left by the dregs of our society.

Thousands of citizens volunteered to help in the cleaup effort this morning.

<a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/pselfy/?action=view&current=IMG-20110616-00299.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/pselfy/IMG-20110616-00299.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/pselfy/?action=view&current=IMG-20110616-00301.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w131/pselfy/IMG-20110616-00301.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Uh oh, I hope I don't get lumped in with the "punks" mentioned on this one.

One way to help prevent this sort of thing in the future would be for the team to identify and investigate based on photo/video evidence and ban these people from ever attending a game.

Perhaps a terse letter along the lines of:

"Your behavior was despicable and an embarrassment to the team and the city. You are no longer welcome at any home game. If you are caught at any arena, you will be forcibly removed. If you are identified participating in any official online entity, we will delete your account. The team does not want you as a fan. You are a disgrace to our heritage. This ban is permanent from your receipt of this letter".

The fans inside the arena were all class. I'm not so sure we would have escaped some incident if the college kids were still in town.

What does Bettmann do to inspire all the booing? It wasn't just last night, it seems it's the same each final.

The NHL wouldn't want me to be Bettman . I'd lose 3 or 4 teams and kill 1 round of the playoffs.

Anti-riot scribbles on a plywood wall. Yup , that pretty much sums up the end of a Cunucks season. [B)]

He doesn't come from hockey. Simple enough.

Oh, he's got shifty eyes too.

I don't think any hockey fans in Canada like Buttman.

Did you go by London Drugs? I heard people ran downstairs to grab electronics. How about Future Shop? Did people manage to get inside? I don't remember if they have track doors or if it's just big sliding glass ones.

It's almost a tradition to boo the Commissioner. I remember seeing video (film) of Clarence Campbell being booed in the same fashion.

Do that & end the season by April 1st & you've got my vote to replace Bettman! Oh, and some of those third jerseys need a little rethinking.

Way to show the world how classy Canada is. Did not see any riots in Boston and hell they have won 7 World Titles in the last 10 years.

Well, after the cops shot and killed that woman after the 2004 World Series, perhaps they thought twice of it.
