Calling Canuck Comic Geeks

My brother is a 45 year old virgin who still loves his Marvel comics (you can imagine the battles over which brother is the biggest geek). #1 of the new Alpha Flight series is now on the shelves.

Really? Just how much demand can there be for a comic about Canadian super heroes? For example, there's Puck, a midget bouncer with super strength and acrobatic abilities. Oooh. Cool.

I used to read that back in the 80's along with all the other Marvel and DC titles. Great John Byrne art. Stupid gimmick to make Northstar gay just to generate interest in the comic.

I have no interest in any comic book produced after 1989. That's when the whole industry went to shit.

Hilarious. I still have my Alpha Flights, from back in the 80s.

Are you sure you're not talking about Details magazine? :) Yeah, it did get pretty gimmicky in the early 90s, with the variant covers and comics that came with collector's cards (eg. X-Men #1 or X-Force #1). Oh yeah, I guess they had foil covers and holographic covers, too.

Still, as an X-Men collector (up until around 1995), there were some highlights: Jim Lee, Age of Apocolypse ...

This is a completely true statement. There are almost zero comics from after that time frame that are worth it. And yeah, how are they rebooting Alpha Flight again I thought they did that in like 2005.
