Anyone else enjoy a really hopped up India Pale Ale?

This is man's beer, beer to put hair on your chest.

Local ones that are pretty good include Red Racer IPA from Surrey, BC, Fat Tug IPA from Victoria, BC, and Hoppleganger from Vancouver. Boundary Bay IPA from just over the border is really hoppy and delicious.

First day on holidays and I've got an ice cold Brew Dog Hardcore IPA from Scotland...9.2% and yummy!!! Good flavor and alcohol content, but Red Racer is my favorite.

We have a local Hooker IPA that rocks. It's hopped up but not ridiculous. I've found the northeast to be IPA haven. Maybe it's just the north. No one ever drank it in LA.

The northwest has some very good IPAs as well, from BC to Washington to Oregon. But maybe you're right, maybe it's a northern thing. I haven't tasted any good ones from California...yet! IPAs seem to be gaining popularity out here.

The IPA I had yesterday was really nice, accompanied by a Cuban cigar.

was in San Francisco and Red Racer was on the menu so I ordered it based on this. Unfortunately, no Red Racer!

Struck up a conversation at the store just yesterday with a guy that had a sixer of Sierra Nevada "Torpedo" under his arm. He described it as "intense".

Harpoon makes a good IPA. Generally speaking, I enjoy the characteristic flavor of every IPA I try. When you've had enough of the masses though, try this monster of an IPA, Stone Cold Ruination:

[/quote]Russian River Brewing Co in Santa Rosa makes an IPA called [i]Pliny The Elder[/i] that has a cult following. Hard to find on a consistent basis so stock up if you come across it. Better yet, try it on-tap at the source.

Playing the IPA game. Picked up Flying Monkeys "Smash Bomb Atomic IPA". Will report back.

Ordered a Sculpin IPA with dinner last week. It's a keeper, and I think it put hair on my chest.

I am more on the lower tier, but I have come across a few favs: (My area of interest consists of the Russian Imperial Stouts, honestly)

Stone IPA (Actually, everything they do is awesome)
Hop Stoopid (cheap-ish)
more recently, 8-ball.

Stone is my fav. A block and a half from the office is a bar that has it on tap.

Plenty of good IPAs made around, or at least available in, Chicago/the Midwest. I agree with the above sentiments that it's probably more of a cold-weather thing.

The Hanson boys are marketing their own IPA - which they are calling MMM-Hop !!! Seriously! Google it!

Can an IPA be both hoppy and stout at the same time? I think this one is. Or maybe it's the combination of 9.2% and hemp seed making me think that.
