Valentine's Day

So what's your plan?

An expensive dinner?

Turn the lights low, hide and don't answer the phone?

6 pack and corn nuts?

Luckily for me, the GF is low maintenance. Glass of wine and Jeopardy on TV and she's good. And no, I don't have to let the air out of her when finished.

Sweet Fuck All. The whole day is a scam (unless you get a blowie out of it of course)

Ten years ago yesterday I was all broken up because I'd just broken up with a girlfriend. On that Valentine's Day, which also happens to be her birthday, I wandered over to my local cheap-beer-and-live-music haven, the Empty Bottle. The place was empty except for a few other (presumably lovelorn) regulars. I was resigned to drowning my sorrows in beer and listening to some shitty local band. Luckily, though, the headliners that night was a ragtag bunch of hoosiers named Crooked County. They were all about Waylon Jennings, my C/W hero and who incidentally had just recently died. They tore the place up, I got good and wasted and when I bought them all a drink after their set, we all raised a glass to Waylon.
To Crooked County: I'll never forget that night. God bless.
