If you lived in a small town pre-mtv, your exposure to new wave acts was incredibly limited. American Bandstand was a great place (actually, maybe the ONLY place) to see lots of them...especially if your parents were jerks who didn't let you stay up to watch SNL on Saturday nights!!!
