Hockey - Canada vs. USSR, Game 1 in Montreal was 40 years ago today. Henderson's goal with 36 seconds left in Game 8 (Sept 28, 1972) , is probably my earliest "where were you when" memory. My answer watching on a tv in a gym, at public school.

Watched the games recently on DVD...man, the hockey was shite!! I always remembered the games as being much better than they obviously were.
Good hair though (except for Gary Bergman & Bill White) lol.

I think I was getting a diaper change...which isn't much different from 2010 when Crosby scored to beat the USA for gold.

I was a bit too young to remember it. And like eight6, I've watched it in recent years (have the DVD), and agree that the hockey was crap. Very slow. It's better to watch the documentaries, or even the movie.
The 1976 games were better, as far as watchability goes. I'm in agreement with Cherry in thinking that this was the best hockey team ever, even without Ken Dryden (injured).
