Alot of my musical tastes are informed by the more electronic / synth varieties of post punk. During the eighties alot of those bands picked up on the disco / house / electro / dance genres especially in their twelve inch releases. I loved that, especially growing up in New York where you had so much of that, all over the place. So getting into "electronica" during the nineties was a pretty natural progression for me. While you had artists like the Chemical Brothers and Moby putting out great material and bringing electronica to the mainstream, France was also churning out it's version of the genre at the same level but there was also a more underground scene happening. No doubt that there's underground all over but it just seems that France was getting alot of notoriety for it. Real funky, real edgy, no lyrics, great beats and sounds, a great mix of house / soul and electronic..... I guess that's what I like about them [:I] It's hard to explain - much less rationalize - what's purely an emotional decision. Give them a try and see what you think. Anyway, whenever I see an artist like Yelle give a more pop spin on things I'm intrigued because it's nice to hear a "song" every now and then too.

I dunno the ir last ep "DVNO" didn't do a whole lot for me.

i agree , as it was their weakest release so far ... but the rest is ace - if u happen to like distorted electrö dänce müsic ! [;)]
