When I was listening to this album I felt like the sound was coming from another room. Still two great songs on the album, "Versus" and "I'm not Scared"

This album has really grown on me...like a bad chancre sore. I now do a complete about-face and call it their worst album by far. What sounded like a fresh and poppy turn at first is now just repetitive dirge. Goodbye to youz!

It's honestly just bizarre Craig. In the last 5 years especially, most of my favorite albums have been ones that I didn't warm up to right away. Even Do You Like Rock Music had me wondering at first, not to mention that Fleet Foxes was completely dismissed early on. Maybe the immediately catchy just gets boring after awhile.

I've noticed that my mood and the environment I'm in affect the appeal of different songs.

Ex: If I am bummed out, a depressing song can be very cathartic and help me feel better.

Also the context in which they are played and what station, if any, is playing them changes my enjoyment of them. KROQ playing an old fave just reminds me of how cool the station used to be and how badly it sucks now. It's almost like they are pandering by pulling out the occasional early 80s song amid all the dreck they now play. I know, in a few short minutes, they will be back to Nickelcunt or whatever crap is currently on heavy rotation. So even if they play a cool song the experience is ruined.

I get tired of stuff pretty quickly for the most part. Then there are those (few) old favorites that seem to always sound good. New Order comes to mind.
