The Drums

Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

Postby MARV » Wed Nov 10, 2010 7:42 am

Zill, I'm so alternative, I don't even read alternative blogs (that was a joke) so I wouldn't know. Seriously though, you make a valid point! I can see your point of view, especially confounded by the fact that some clueless twat in the corporate workplace may be into them.

And I wouldn't worry too much about being a cunt. We're all cunts.

The Drums will continue to hold my attention as long as they keep on doing all this out-there, eccentric stuff. To Frau's point, I think the videos (like the live shows) totally enhance that "whatever" thing for me. Without that, I'd have to agree, the album alone would probably be hanging out there like a meatball. Probably.

I would crack some joke here but it would have some pretty obscure references that I'm sure most of you wouldn't get...

I'm just amazed sometimes when I see the amount of reads a thread gets compared to the amount of posts it gets. Sixteen posts here after four hundred and four reads.

Interesting read:

I don't know this to be a fact, but my friend told me she heard a Drums song in featured in a VW ad. How mainstream.

25 or 30 years ago that would be called a sell out but today bands are lining up to have their songs in commercials because, for the most part, they no longer have radio to help promote them. Their 20 something fans don't seem to care either way.

True. And 25 years ago few major companies would use some new, relatively unknown band's music for their ad campaigns. Now more and more are following Apple's lead to give themselves a cutting edge image by using alternative and indie music in their commercials.

Truth be told, I was over the moon. As soon as I got back to my computer and saw the clip, I danced 'round the room naked. That's what I did. And thats what I know you're doing too. I danced particularly spastically when Blair and Chuck finally kissed to that touching melody of "9669". My cock flailed about uncontrollably.
