Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

Vampire Weekend

Don't know a thing about this band, other than:

a) apparently there's some Talking Heads influence
b) they're getting a shitload of press
c) they've released an album

Has anyone listened to them? If so, what say ye? Aye or Nay?

I wasn't hugely impressed by their ep but they are getting hyped to death, will check out the album and maybe we'll see them at SXSW

Well worth the investment to purchase the full release. They do kind of remind you of the heads circa 77 with a touch of the early police angst. three out of four stars.

I like A Punk and M79 a lot, and there are other tracks that are OK. I think they are a decent enough band, but it is nothing new. The amount of hype seems to me to be an indication of just how bland today's musical landscape really is.
