Looking for new bands who sound very "synthy"

I like my music layered in synths and compressed drums.[:D] The more electronics used the better. I'm told there are tons of new bands out there with an 80's sound to them, but to be honest I'm not seeing them.

I am from the UK, but live in the U.S., so maybe it's happening in Europe. Aside from Chromeo, I don't see many retro sounding bands in North America.

Anyway, what are some of the best contemporary artists/releases making 80's sounding stuff? Cheers.

you will probably like "Stop Heartbeat" by The Foxglove Hunt

The Knife and Ladytron come to mind first,maybe LCD SoundSystem if you don't mind some guitar thrown in. Check out this thread ,you should find something you like. Especially Rotators vids he leans towards the synthy sounds.

Need I mention Goldfrapp? Our Canadian neighbors Metric are among my favorites as well. M83 and Ladytron both have good new albums out this year. !!! (chk-chk-chk) might feed your funkier groove. Someone's bound to mention Marsheaux or Nouvelle Vague, but they're two or three trick pastiche pony's IMHO but still worth a quick distraction.

don't get me wrong - i really like the new album , but it's as far from what goldfrapp did before as it can get !

anyway ... if u really want something great "synthy"-like , then go & get radioactive man's brand new album "growl" ! [:)]
it feat. dot allison on a song called "nothing @ all" , which is currently my "song of the year" , as it has absolutely everything that a good synth tune with great vocals need - yeah ! [8D]
