Finally heard their new single "Papillion" tonight. A little more dance oriented than their previous stuff. I like it though. New album In This LIght and On This Evening coming in Oct.

Thanks for the heads-up cubby. I think this is a critical album for them. Their first album was good but I think it's the sort of music that grows old quickly. Their second album was more of the same because we all wanted more of the same - it was a great sound. Now, I'm not sure how great it is anymore. They're already fairly dissed in the UK for being a semi-populist pseudo-indie band, playing to all the classic Strokes/Interpol-isms. It's good to hear they might be taking a bit of a different angle. I think they need to.

Not bad..
Definitely has a Blancmange ~ Pete Shelley ~ Sisters of Mercy inspired electro vibe running through it.[8D]

Yeah, I know. I sampled it and I thought the same thing. This is definitely an example of where changing your sound is not a good thing.

They just might turn over there entire fan base with this one. What other bands have succeeded with this strategy?

I've seen them live this summer. They were performing mostly songs from the new album and back then I did not recognize much of the songs. I've heard the album once now and was not convinced yet. I think though it's better for them to switch to the synths.
"Papillon" sounds like "Send Me an Angel" with the synths in the beginning.

Still can't get over the new one, not to mention they titled a song "Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool".
