I have had this for a couple weeks and for some reason have had an aversion to listening to it. Full disclosure, I thought the last CD was excellent, it may have even been in my top 5 that year.
Now that all the mainstream media is force feeding this down our throats like the WNBA and telling you that if you are hip this is what you need to listen to (I'm not talking the regular douche bag critics who are too cool - they were drooling all over the last one, I'm talking the Entertainment Weekly, People magazine variety), I just wasn't that motivated to put this one on. First off, it's long. It's not agonizingly long like say, Avatar, but 16 songs and around an hour, I simply don't have that kind of time. I think they easily could have shaved 6 songs off (any 6 really, they are all pretty close to the same song of varying lengths). I really wanted to hate this, maybe because I was too cool to still like them, they are so 2008 (and I'm apparently two thousand late?) but I kind of liked that one song. There was another one that was pretty good and then that other one was not bad. One song was like My City Was Gone if Chrissie Hynde had her balls cut off. Maybe it's my general mood as of late that people irritate me (pretty much all people) so the entire time I was listening to it I was thinking of all the people I would like to kick in the face (http://nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28935)(Holy Crap, Rosie O'Donnell is getting another show? Of course Oprah is involved.....).
I'm not sure how much a CD costs, but if I were deciding to spend my hard earned cash on buying (or downloading this on itunes) this, I would strongly consider just popping the last one into the cassette deck and scratching out the titles and renaming them something or other (Part I) and then something or other (Part II).
All in all though, I didn't hate it.
