Highly predictable. Glad for Calvi and Metronomy. Can't understand the continued critical fondness for Elbow - they can't write songs. If the everyman snorefest of Adele doesn't take it, I'll be shocked. Shame that the fine new Horrors isn't on it. Didn't expect BSP but would love to have seen Joy Formidable.

Anna Calvi - Anna Calvi
Elbow - Build A Rocket Boys
James Blake - James Blake
Katy B - On A Mission
Metronomy - The English Riviera
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
Tinie Tempah - Disc-Overy
Everything Everything - Man Alive
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine
Gwilym Simcock - Good Days At Schloss Elmau
Ghostpoet - Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam
Adele - 21

This bullshit "prize" has been a joke ever since the truly execrable Antony & The Johnsons won it back in 2005, probably the worst musical experience of the past decade but who thankfully lived up to be the hipster flash in the pan they truly were.

I never was a big fan of PJ Harvey, but I think she deserved the Mercury for 'Let England Shake'.
