Roxy Music The Avalon Tapes 1981-1982
Publisher: Unknown

Date :
Made In :
Quality :Studio
Booklet & packaging :Colour CD jewel case artwork
Total duration: 56:46

Collection of demos for the Avalon album, with a number of songs that weren't ultimately included.
All the songs are in the same basic format:
- a basic backing track, with Bryan Ferry vocalising along to the melody with barely a lyric to articulate
- quite mind-boggling that this is how these songs evolved, the music consistently coming before any attempt at lyrics.
The sound quality is very good.

Personal notes:
I received this as a gift on a cd, without any infos/tracklisting, and extracted the music files in mp3@320)
The tracklist infos come from www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=rmtat19811982
I am quite puzzled for their track 4 and track 5 identification...
I prefered not to include any track name on the mp3 files, so you can make your own identification.

Tracklist:
01. True To Life (Ferry) 4:09
Song Demo Rough Track With Vocalising 1981 Roxy Music
Without the lyrics, it sounds very much like "Slave to Love"...
02. More Than This (Ferry) 4:39
Song Demo Rough Track With Vocalising 1981 Roxy Music
03. The Main Thing (Ferry) 3:27
Song Demo Rough Track With Vocalising 1981 Roxy Music
04. Unreleased #1 (unknown) 3:37
Song Demo Rough Track With Vocalising 1981
Listed (on back as Track 5) as "Unreleased #1"
05. Avalon (Ferry) 3:17
Song Demo Rough Track With Vocalising 1981 Roxy Music
Listed on back as Track 4
To me, it sounds like Lost, that re-surfaced 33 years later in Ferry's Avonmore album
06. Is Your Love Strong Enough (Ferry) 3:40
Song Demo Rough Track With Some Lyrics 1981 Roxy Music
Listed as "Circles"
07. The Space Between (Ferry) 4:25
Song Demo Rough Track - Instrumental 1981 Roxy Music
08. Movie, Move Me [version 1] (Ferry) 3:20
Song Demo Rough Track With Some Lyrics 1981 Roxy Music
09. Unreleased #2 (unknown) 3:54
Song Demo Rough Track - Instrumental 1981
10. While My Heart Is Still Beating (Ferry/Mackay) 3:17

Poor bootlegzone, gone forever I think. same old people doing all the uploading there and same old people who did all the requesting, freeloading and copying and pasting of others links.

Yeah I know not everyone does, it's not a public place, that's the best thing along with 'certain' people being pre-blocked.

It's available on YouTube... albeit not in a high bitrate... but I guess it does not matter with substandard sound (no offence, just saying)

Thanks UVox for posting a link.
I usually shy away from "demos",
because I only want to hear the finished product.
Avalon is such a brilliant release that I had to peek behind the curtain.
So many 80s artists were influenced by Roxy Music,
it was wonderful for Roxy Music to show them who's the master!
