Postby Passing_Stranger » Sun Mar 20, 2022 5:50 pm

Pressing on, a new volume. I'm slowly running out of stuff yet at the same time something new keeps coming up. The big discovery this time is an unreleased 4th album by The Bolshoi - great from start to finish, really strong LP that deserved wider recognition (though what chances did it stand in 1988...). Otherwise some pretty cool stuff, from energetic songs by The Cars, The Twins etc to enchanting melancholy of Bel Canto (another fantastic tune), Mark Lane and Fall of Saigon. Quality varies sometimes (for example, Vicious Pink LP is hideously compressed :x ), but music is strong regardless.

Unreleased in the 1980s Vol. 19

01. The Cars [US] - Slipaway
02. Vicious Pink [UK] - Why Me?
03. The Twins [DE] - Don't Know What to Do
04. Schaltkreis Wassermann [CH] - Full Moon Night
05. Paul Nova [UK] - It's Raining Again Outside
06. Sara Ayers [US] - I Think of You
07. The Bolshoi [UK] - What's Your Favourite Colour?
08. Bel Canto [NO] - Flowerbeds
09. Mark Lane [US] - The Poison for Me
10. Fall of Saigon [FR] - I'll Never Be Back

Many thanks, V. You seem to have a good source for the rare stuff. I had no idea about that unreleased lp from The Bolshoi.

Hi guys! Can you believe its the 20th volume in the series! Never thought it could get this far but stuff just keeps coming and there are so many hidden goodies, I'm sure you'll agree. I'm already gathering things for further volumes - but that'll be a bit later, let's have a breather. Meanwhile here's another instrumental volume - hope nobody minds. Almost all these compositions are very electronic, some are very atmospheric, some are driving stompers. I had tremendous pleasure getting them all together, hope you'll find something to your liking too :)

Unreleased in the 1980s Vol. 20

01. Dennis Young [UK] - Teotihuacan
02. Patrick Cowley [US] - Mockingbird Dream
03. Section 25 [UK] - Just to Be with You
04. Nash The Slash [CA] - Lake Ontario Suite (Pt 2)
05. Will Sergeant [UK] - Vacuum
06. Neu! [DE] - Euphoria
07. Omni [PO] - Parabola
08. Zhark [DE] - Stealth
09. The Art of Noise [UK] - Who's Afraid (of Scale)
10. Stephen Huss [CA] - Galactic

Yes, Pat Benatar! Just for a bit of contrast - and it's a great song which I only recently discovered and can't stop listening to.

Anyway, here's the last volume for some time. I've finally ran out of stuff, there are several subpar tracks but nothing more. So the series comes to an end quite naturally - until I'll find enough stuff to make more, of course :D Ends on a nicely international note, too - which is what I aimed for all along, and so far only one volume has been exclusively from the UK. It's a great, very thrilling feeling listening o compilations of never before released stuff, hoping and waiting for a hidden gem(s) to present themselves. Hopefully we're not done yet!

Unreleased in the 1980s, Vol. 21

01. Thomas Dolby [UK] - Sale of the Century
02. Atelier Folie [IT] - Hello Halley
03. Kinetic Ideals [CA] - This Face
04. Dear Enemy [AU] - Wild Child
05. The Teardrop Explodes [UK] - Not My Only Friend
06. Twice a Man [SE] - Defence
07. Astrea Redux [DE] - Timemachine
08. Deine Lakaien [DE] - Death-Raft
09. Paul Chambers [UK] - The Appointment with Fear
10. Pat Benatar [US] - New Dream Islands

Great to say Handful Of Snowdrops turning up.
Their song Gabrielle (clearly Xymox influenced) is one of the finest late 80s tracks and yet its still unavailable on any CD compilation.
Only found of now very rare debut LP / CD.

Thank you for your feedback, guys - very nice to see! :D Here's another volume - first of two in which I included songs that got a narrow escape the first time round. Often I had a hard time choosing the one for the compilation as I liked two or three equally. I decided to revisit some of those and gathered enough for two volumes. Quite a few gems and even the lesser ones are quite nice, have a listen!

Oh yes, it's 24th because the 23rd is in the works currently. Will unveil in the next year :D

Unreleased in the 1980s, Vol. 24

01. Red Violet Red [US] - Music for Driving
02. Caméra · Obscura [UK] - Strange Faces
03. Images in Vogue [CA] - Quiet Room
04. Pseudo Echo [AU] - Life in Ice
05. Monuments [IT] - Violet Lady
06. Land of Giants [CA] - Fountains in the Rain
07. Thomas Leer [UK] - Leaving
08. Mark Lane [US] - The Lights of March
09. Das Kabinette [UK] - Next in Line
10. Aerial FX [UK] - I See Changes
