Wow, did the week flow by! Happens when you're engaged in work, of course. Still, found time to compile a new volume. This one happens to be the most international of all so far, but the result is a fun one, I feel (had much trouble picking a song by a-ha, though - mightily uninspiring set of demos, unfortunately). Xex's one is from their unreleased-at-the-time second LP which is very good, in some cases (like, say, the presented song) much better than their much-celebrated first. Westheimer's song is a highlight, too, very catchy. And Grupo Q's (they were actually called simply Q, but I decided to go with the CD cover for distinction), while their only one in English, is a great surprise, very Spanish minimalist synthpop, classy stuff. Techniques Berlin's one not very far behind (though the vocals are usually their weakest feature). Actually all the songs are cool one way or another and this volume came out as quite diverse. Hope y'all like it :D

Unreleased in the 1980s Vol. 7

01. Xex [US] - Fun in the Sun
02. Choice [IE] - Always in Danger
03. Zwischenfall [DE] - Sacred Time
04. Ruins [IT] - Alone
05. Ausgang Verboten [SE] - Joy and Ease
06. Grupo Q [ES] - Houses of Glass
07. Peter Westheimer [AU] - Mirrors Everywhere
08. Techniques Berlin [CA] - Pieces of Glass (demo)
09. a-ha [NO] - Nothing to It
10. Basking Sharks [UK] - The Twist

Yes, it was a pleasant surprise! BS are among my very favourite minimal synth bands so anything from them is welcome. Their self-released compilation "Back from the deep water" was reissued by a label recently and they included this song, too - which was very handy as my copy of the original is damaged. But now I was able to include this fine song for everyone to enjoy :)

Hey guys! Falling behind the schedule, I'm afraid - workload is a bitsch :? Anyway, had a bit of time for the next volume - the easiest way was to group together hidden gems from the "name" artists - those who had a hit or two or went on to have a very good carrier or influenced and inspired generations. It just so happened that they are all from the UK, which if you think about it is not at all surprising. Most of the songs are surprisingly good, why Simple Minds didn't release their full song is beyond me, OMD's one is so synthetic it's practically untypical for them, Human League lost a great dancefloor stomper and Blancmange - a fine song that would've definitely shone on their third LP. Anyway all of the songs here are good (yes, even the first one which I like quite a bit :D ), so hopefully no-one will be disappointed.

Unreleased in the 1980s Vol. 8

01. ABC - Into the Valley of the Heathen Go
02. The Associates - Saline Drips
03. Gary Numan - Nameless & Forgotten
04. Simple Minds - In Every Heaven
05. OMD - Brand New Science
06. Soft Cell - Science Fiction Stories
07. The Human League - Disco Disaster
08. The Fixx - Venture out
09. Re-Flex - Playing for Time
10. Blancmange - River of Life

Thank you guys for the support, nice to see feedback for my efforts. Meantime, we're nearly done with the first 10 volumes! I don't know if there'll be the next 10, but I'll do my best :D This one features mostly obscure names, though some went on to actual commercial success. Had to edit some unnecessary junk from a couple of the tracks but nothing major.

Unreleased in the 1980s Vol. 9

01. Martin Lloyd [UK] - Science Fiction Man
02. Fockewulf 190 [IT] - Orient Express
03. Camouflage [DE] - Seconds
04. Information Society [US] - The Orthodox Pleasure Song
05. Informatics [AU] - Talk Talk Run
06. Oviformia SCI [ES] - No Comments
07. Circuit 7 [UK] - Russian Roulette
08. Our Daughter's Wedding [US] - She's out There!
09. Near Paris [US] - Walk Like a Man
10. Drama [CA] - Nuclear Waste

So the thread seems to have migrated to Monday, hope no one's upset about it :D A 10th volume here! Seemingly by the year's end we'll be done with the series, but maybe not, let's wait and see. Here we have the usual amount of hidden treasures (and simply nice songs), the main ones for me a opener and closer. Humania's unfairly overlooked but important part of Ultravox history - if "U-vox" is the way Midge saw the band's evolution than "Sinews of the soul" may very well be Billy's. Great surprise it was and songs range from solid to stellar, I had a hard time picking one for this series. Urge all interested to check the whole bunch, it really is very cool. The New Occupants, on the other hand, were a neat synthpop band with several entertaining songs under their belt. How come this one never saw the light of day is beyond me - it's one of my firm favourites in the whole genre, never fails to put me in a dreamy but somewhat dramatic mood :D Oh, and that Paul Haig left his song languishing in the archives for decades is just criminal - I can't get it out of my head for days after listening, hope you'll like it as much (though maybe I shouldn't've grouped the last two together - but you're free to change the running order, of course!).

Those are just the highlights! Go get the rest - though be warned, this time due to sheer length of the songs it's not the usual "about 40 minutes", but "about 50 minutes". I personally have no problem with that, the songs are good so you won't notice the time :)

Unreleased in the 1980s Vol. 10

01. Humania [UK] - Undertow
02. Intelligence Dept [IT] - Chains
03. Vivabeat [US] - Napalm Springs
04. Psyche [CA] - Murder in the Wind
05. Units [US] - Blue or White
06. Body 11 [DE] - Fascination
07. Passion Polka [UK] - Lying Next to You
08. Second Glance [AU] - Please Don't Kiss
09. Paul Haig [UK] - Change of Heart
10. The New Occupants [US] - Electric Angel
