The Unknown Beauty Of The 80's Vol. 174

Postby Rissan » Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:42 am

Slowly everything is opening again, although the pubs and restaurants are still suffer and will have rules for the upcoming months, when the corona rules get loosen again this Saturday.

Another sector heavily damaged is the entertainment industry. I had hoped to visit my first concert since 15 February 2020, when I saw OMD in Vredenburg Utrecht, upcoming Friday. But unfortunately it has been postponed again to 27 Mai 2022. So instead of the concert I will be record hunting at a record store in the afternoon, which to the knowledge of my very enthusiastic music friend, has a huge collection of 80's vinyl and cd's. So fingers crossed if I am able to find some jewels. We hope to finish with a nice beer at a pub nearby the store.
As usual the link will be up for a week.

The tracklist:

01. Imitation - Thermo Limbo (5:48)
02. The Doll - Burning Up Like A Fire (3:27)
03. Logic System - Domino Dance (4:17)
04. The Young Gods - Did You Miss Me (3:22)
05. Crystal Set - Wholly Holy (3:57)
06. The Passmore sisters - Every Child In Heaven (3:34)
07. Deafear - Grey World (5:10)
08. Neutral Project - A Vision In Your Eyes (4:02)
09. The Brains - Dancing Under Street Lights (4:19)
10. Factual - Psychotic Romance (5:34)
11. Colourbox - Punch (5:47)
12. MCL (Micro Chip League) - Satellite (3:57)
13. Essential Logic - Fanfare In The Garden (3:07)
14. Cunning Toy - Searching (7:19)
15. The Mighty Wah! - Come Back (4:24)
16. Russia Heat - Tell Me Your Name (4:13)
17. The Stroke - Revenge (2:48)
18. Hungry For What - Misanthrope (4:25)

I`ve been keeping a steady companion with this series throughout the past few months on my daily walks
and I am very thankful I have discovered quite a few forgotten gems that way.

Actually.....I am quite behind the latest one......currently have just started vol.33,
but my latest discovery comes from vol.22 and is the beautiful ballad Columbia from Minor Detail.
I have only known this band so far for their single Canvas Of Life, but this track is something else.
Wonderfully contemplative and haunting.

The very sound of synth-mania of 1983.
