Heaven 17 Live at Scala question

Why is this spread over two discs?

By my math it should all fit on one disc, and indeed it seems later it was all consolidated to one disc for a reissue (https://www.discogs.com/release/2835917 ... -The-Scala). So is there an unlisted something else there in that first release that demands more disc space?

I only have the DVD version but at a guess it is on 2 cd's to bump up the cost and justified by not going to the mid 70 minutes running time of a single cd which is a very common thing. You will find that a lot of multi disc sets can lose a disc or two if you squeeze.

^ What eddie said, plus these discs would be made available at the merch stall minutes after the end of the gig. Splitting the discs allows them to do the prep on cd1, thus saving time in getting the second disc finalised for quick sale.

Yeah, I wondered if they might be cdr's which although the capacity is 79 minutes seem to have a progressive failure or error rate beyond 70/72.

Sometimes on gig recordings which are legitimately 2 cds it's impossible to avoid a third due to the length of the track where splits would naturally occur.

Just put the same company OMD royal albert hall gig in my drive and that reads as a cdr.

Yes I was at the Scala gig and these CDs were available to pre-order and collect on the night. I spent most of the evening trying to dodge the camera which kept swooping over my head, but it's a very good gig. The DVD is probably the best way to enjoy it.
