Request: Information Society "Running" 1986 7" Promo

Postby Fred Taghon » Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:23 am

Does ANYONE out there happen to have this rare Information Society 7" promo? Even a crappy mp3? I'd love to hear the Edit and see if it can be re-created from the full-length version.

Thanks for any help!

This promo 45 is very rare and has been fetching high prices for a long time. One went for $68 on eBay in 2011, and about $100 to $200 on Discogs with only 5 sold since 2014.

I did once run across what purported to be a rip of the vocal edit, but it turned out to just be fake, as did someone's YouTube upload last year (and now deleted) which was just an early fade of the album version. So be careful if you do find something.

Thanks for the info and warning. I did a YouTube search and found a few approx 4min versions but they are definitely not from vinyl and don't mention the 7" promo at all so I assume they are just fan edits. I'd rather get a lousy vinyl rip and at least at that point I can be reasonably sure it's legit.

Even that's not a guarantee; the fake one I had found on YouTube had vinyl noise overlaid! Careful listening and inspection revealed it was the same noise/loop, reversed on one end. Why someone would go to so much trouble, I can only guess. Monetization of their YouTube channel, perhaps? Trying to get privileges for uploading rarities in a private trading community?

Oh wow, lol that's crazy! But I suppose these are the times we're living in...amazing technology but humans still "F" it up. I do appreciate these insights though!!!! Let's hope some genuine fan with no insidious intentions eventually gets their hands on a copy and is generous enough to share! I love discovering officials edits I was not aware of, and if I'm able to recreate them with available cd/digitally sourced releases, that's always a nice bonus! My fingers remain crossed for this one.....
