The Looters - Cross the Border

Postby BigBri » Tue May 31, 2005 1:03 pm

The Looters were a SF/Bay Area that I know little about but for their entry at Allmusic.com. But I do know they had a song called "Cross the Border" that WLIR played in the mid-1980s. A dancey tune infused with an African rhythm. I can hear the chorus in my head right now...

Any chance that someone out there might have this gathering dust in their collection?

Funny that I found this post after a google search on the band & song.
Marvymarv's doing an impromptu <a href="http://www.nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9150" target="blank">WDRE DJ MAX dance mix NTT</a> and I believe the following is a <a href="http://www.mytempdir.com/267536" target="blank">sample of the song</a> (yes? No?)

BTW: Did you ever find a copy BigBri? (I would love to have it too! [:p])

I'm quite sure that's it!

The last time I heard it was about 1 or 2 weeks before WLIR went kaput... during one of Maxx's last Saturday night broadcasts.

I haven't found it yet. The LP it's cut from, Flashpoint, apparently was released on CD, though. The principle guy in the band is Mat Callahan, and I think I read they were a San Francisco-based band.
