Northern Picture Library

LTM has reissued "Alaska" by Northern Picture Library (LTMCD 2436), the band formed by Bobby Wratten in 1992 after The Field Mice split. The remastered CD features three bonus tracks!

NORTHERN PICTURE LIBRARY "ALASKA" LTMCD 2436 £10
Northern Picture Library were formed by Bobby Wratten, Annemari Davies and Mark Dobson after The Field Mice split in 1991. NPL was a less highly-strung project, less song-based and more dark and ambient than before, drawing influence from Talk Talk, Brian Eno and ambient/dance crossover. Melody Maker described the band as "state of the art, post-ambient electropoppers who write some of the most beautiful songs in existence." 72 minutes, 18 remastered tracks. This embarrassment of riches is completed by all three tracks from Love Song for the Dead Che, the companion ep recorded at the same sessions.

Full tracklist:

1.Untitled *1
2.Into the Ether
3.Catholic Easter Colours
4.Glitter Spheres, Insecure
5.Dreams and Stars and Sleep
6.Lucky
7.LSD Icing
8.Truly Madly Deeply
9.Isn't It Time You Faced the Truth?
10.Untitled *2
11.Skylight
12.Of Traffic and the Ticking
13.Lucky (reprise)
14.Monotone
15.Love Song for the Dead Che *1
16.Love Song for the Dead Che *2
17.The Way That Stars Die.

Reviews: "Divine - one of the debut albums of 1993" (Melody Maker); "Love Song for the Dead Che boasts a shuffling, cavernous beat, sepia-tinted cooing female vocals, weird samples - pretty delighful" (Melody Maker, 1993)
