Why no FINGERPRINTZ CDs....

Why no FINGERPRINTZ CDs....

Postby dj-nak » Wed Apr 07, 2010 4:41 am

To this day, I'm amazing that not a single track of the great post-punk/new wave band Fingerprintz has ever been issued on CD. "Distinguishing Marks" (including "Bulletproof Heart") is classic, and "Beat Noir" sounds surprisingly current.

C'mon EMI...at least get these remastered and up on iTunes!

Wow...that IS astounding isn't it? Countless reissues over the past 15 years and still nothing to show from this great band.

Coincidentally, I was just listening to the track "Who's Your Friend?" from Fingerprintz on a mix on my way into work this morning.

On the Rachel Sweet Yahoo Group there was guy who ran Stiff Records used to post along with us years ago. I can't remember his name, I think it was Tony, anyway, I asked him about releasing Fingerprintz's Stiff albums and he said they did not do well and they have no intention of every releasing them on cd.
They probably could be licensed but not put out by Stiff themselves,on the website there is a section to go to if you want to inquire about licensing.

Distinguishing Marks would be great on cd with bonus tracks, but that of course was on Virgin.

Would be nice to have these on CD yes. People should check out The Silencers though one of the most underrated bands of all time. Every album from Letter From St Paul through to So Be It are top quality.

I have to punch in on this post.
Over the yrs i 2 have been waiting for Fingerprintz
to pop up on CD (of course i'm still waiting), so i made it my quest to find a person/website who maybe did some vinyl rips.
And that i did, i found a site and i gotta say WOW!, this dude
did a terrific job, (they sound Fantastic) i'd almost swear they were cd burns, there's no cracks/pops - i cannot tell they are vinyl drops at all.
I scored "Beat Noir, Distinguishing Mark and The Very Dab"
Gave this person A+ and thank him very much.
Might have scored Nash the Slashs' Children of the Night also fr the
same place.
I will look and see if i can find it again.
Cannot remember who what or where because of a computor crash and
thank got these i had backed up.
