Cherry Red/The Beach Boys..should I be worried?

Cherry Red/The Beach Boys..should I be worried?

Cherry Red will be remastering and releasing some Beach Boys related CD's in 2010, notably Carl Wilson's solo albums and the Brian Wilson produced "Spring" album. Should I prepare myself for Brian's masterful production getting compressed into an ear-splitting soup of sound or will Cherry Red do right by these releases?

Yes, you should be worried that they are issuing CDs by the least "New Wavey" band ever.

Well, they're not. They're releasing Beach Boys side projects (and thank God the Beach Boys never jumped on the New Wave bandwagon in the 80's because they're the wrong band for that sound) but Cherry Red's top sellers seem to be mostly non-new wave (50's and 60's reissues, 70's progressive rock like Ten Years After, Hawkwind, etc.). Assuming someone here on the NWO may have at one time purchased a non-New Wave CD from them (perish the thought!), are their reissues compressed to hell across the board?

Your wish came true. Cherry Red reissued a Shadows CD in February.
